Buffalo First’s eight-member board of directors recently named Sarah Bishop executive director. Bishop joined the organization in March 2010 as education coordinator and took over operations and leadership in July, when the organization’s founding executive director Amy Kedron stepped down to complete her PhD research. Supported by an executive committee, Bishop quickly demonstrated her commitment and ability to continue Kedron’s legacy.

A native of East Aurora and a graduate of Houghton College, Bishop came to Buffalo First from Washington, D.C. where she served as director of operations at the Institute on Religion and Public Policy - an international nonprofit organization that works globally to promote human rights and religious freedom. Bishop brings tremendous dedication and vision to the Buffalo First mission and excels at educating and engaging a socially conscious Buffalo community.

“Sarah has done a tremendous job expanding and strengthening Buffalo First’s network with like-minded nonprofits and community leaders,” says Kelly Mauer, board president.  “She takes a creative approach to pooling efforts, which has really benefitted all of our member organizations.”
